BRASIL PROFUNDO (DEEP BRAZIL)

in rhythms, songs and traditions

The Brasil Profundo (Deep Brazil) project, in Rhythms, Songs, and Traditions, aims to disseminate part of the Brazilian music produced in the sertões, in the corners that are not widely known abroad and are outside conventional media circuits.

It consists of organizing a concert and a workshop with music and rhythms from the traditional Brazilian popular repertoire. These include: bumba-meu-boi, congada, folia de reis, coco, modas de viola caipira, siriri, jongo, batuques, and cantorias.

In the concert, Nádia and Guilherme interpret these traditional songs with vocals, guitar, viola caipira, and percussion.

In the workshop, they share some of the stories of these traditions, showcasing images, videos, and engaging in collective experiments with vocals, body percussion, and dances from these manifestations.

Upon returning to Brazil, the artists plan to share the lived experience with children from a public school in the sertão of Minas Gerais.
